Project Rx
Project Rx is a functional exercise program specifically designed for cancer patients and survivors. The program provides classes twice a week over a 3-month period, offered in-person at CrossFit Evolve in Fort Collins, Colorado, or virtually from anywhere in the country. These sessions foster community, support, and connection among survivors while addressing the physical challenges commonly experienced during and after treatment.
Our training focuses on building strength for the movements you use every day—lifting objects from the floor, getting in and out of bed, and reaching into cabinets. We achieve this through functional exercises like deadlifts, squats, and presses, helping you move safely and confidently in your daily life.
The Vision
Project Rx began as a passion project during my first year of graduate school when I had the opportunity to work with cancer survivors in the exercise setting. Over the past five years, I’ve listened to countless stories about experiences during treatment - stories often marked by side effects that required medication, which in turn created more side effects. Most importantly, I witnessed the challenges survivors faced in completing daily activities due to functional strength limitations.
My journey with functional fitness started during my sophomore year of undergrad, and I was instantly hooked. It gave me a competitive outlet and a strong, supportive community both inside and outside the gym. That experience inspired me to envision an exercise program designed specifically for cancer patients and survivors - a place where, for 60 minutes, they could focus on themselves, move their bodies, and feel the encouragement of a community that truly has their back. That vision became Project Rx.
